ORDINANCE No. 177110
*Increase the minimum pay rate of five seasonal classifications and authorize increases to minimum pay
rates of classifications to meet mandates of state or federal minimum wage requirements. (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. In accordance with the policies established by the City Council and based on changes to the Oregon State Minimum Wage Law ORS 653.025, the Bureau of Human Services is increasing the minimum pay rate of five seasonal classifications.
2. The City is required to establish pay rates for City classifications that are in accordance with state and federal minimum wage requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:
a. The following compensation rates are established effective 1/1/03:
JCN Job Class Minimum Pay Rate Effective Date
0109 Clerical Trainee $6.90 1/1/03
4320 Recreation Leader–Pt/Seasonal $6.90 1/1/03
4321 Parks Activities Specialist $6.90 1/1/03
4340 Recreation Assistant $6.90 1/1/03
7450 Community Services Aide I $6.90 1/1/03
b. The City Council further authorizes the Bureau of Human Resources to increase the minimum rate of pay for any classification if necessary to meet a mandated increase in state or federal minimum wage requirements.
Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists in order that this compensation action may occur without delay; therefore, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from after its passage by the Council.
