ORDINANCE No. 177031

*  Establish a new classification of and an interim wage for Mapping Data Technician. (Ordinance)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1. The Council finds:

1.  The Bureau of Human Resources is establishing a new classification of and an interim wage for Mapping Data Technician in accordance with the policies established by the City Council.

2.  The business needs that this classification is intended to meet cannot be fulfilled until the classification and wage rate is established. However, the wage rate for the classification must be collectively bargained with the City of Portland Professional Employees Association (COPPEA). The City may establish an interim rate during bargaining.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The following classification is created:

b.  The following interim compensation rate is established:

Mapping Data Technician  Entry   1 Year 2 Year  3Year 4 Year 5 Year

$20.00 $20.98 $22.05  $23.15   $24.29 $25.52

c.  Once the City has met its statutory bargaining obligations with COPPEA, a final rate may be implemented with no further action upon signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Director of Human Resources and COPPEA and approved as to form by the Office of the City Attorney, or upon exhaustion of the 90-day expedited bargaining process provided for under ORS 243.698.

Section 2.  The Council declares that an emergency exists in order that this classification and compensation action may occur without delay; therefore, this ordinance shall be in force and effect from after its passage by the Council.
