ORDINANCE No. 176983 AS AMENDED
Designate two Heritage Trees, and remove one tree from the Heritage Tree List (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. Section 20.40.150 of the City Code provides for the listing, designation and maintenance of Heritage Trees.
2. The Urban Forestry Commission has recommended that the Council designate one publicly owned tree and one tree on private property as Heritage Trees.
3. The owner of the tree on private property has consented to the designation.
4. The Urban Forestry Commission has unanimously recommended that the Council remove the designation of one tree as a Heritage tree because the designation no longer is appropriate.
5. The owner of the property on which the tree to be removed from the Heritage Tree List is standing has been notified of the Commission’s recommendation, and has not expressed any objection to the removal of the designation.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:
a. Under the provisions of PCC 20.40.150:
1. The Wych elm (Ulmus glabra), located at 3331 NE Hancock, owned by the City of Portland, is designated as a Heritage Tree;
2. The Japanese maple (Acer palmatum), located at 3652 SE Alder Street, owned by Abigail Weisnbloom; and
3. The Heritage Tree designation of the Madrone (Arbutus menziesii), located at 6116 NE Willow, owned by Phillip Prewett, is removed.
