ORDINANCE No. 176970

*Amend Contract with AON for employee benefit actuarial and related services. (Ordinance; Amend Contract No. 33464)

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1. The Council finds:

1.  The Office of Management and Finance entered into Contract No. 33464 with AON on February 5, 2001 and amended the Contract in August 2001 for actuarial analysis of the City’s health care plan and associated services related to benefit plan redesign and the like.

2.  A consultant selection process, in accordance with Section 5.68 of the City Code, is currently underway.

3.  In order that critical services not be disrupted pending completion of the consultant selection process and implementation of a contract with the selected consultant, it is prudent and in the City’s best interests to continue its relationship with AON by amending the Contract’s termination date and compensation provisions.

4.  The Health Fund’s FY 2002-03 Adopted Budget includes appropriation for the provision of actuarial and related services.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to execute the amendment to the Contract, attached hereto as Exhibit A.

b.  The Mayor and Auditor are hereby authorized to draw and deliver warrants against Contract No. 33464 not to exceed $60,630 for the period July 16 through November 30, 2002.

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists in order that there be no delay

in actuarial and related services associated with the City’s employee benefits

plan; therefore,this Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its

passage by the Council.
