ORDINANCE NO. 176857

* Accept a grant from Multnomah County in the amount of $135,425 for operation of an integration program for senior citizens who have mental retardation/developmental disabilities (Ordinance).

The City of Portland ordains:

Section 1. The Council finds:

1.  Portland Parks and Recreation’s Special Recreation program provides recreation integration to mentally retarded/developmentally disabled senior adults.

2.  Multnomah County’s Mental Health, Youth and Family Services Division desires to contract with Portland Parks and Recreation’s Special Recreation program to provide these services which PP&R has successfully done since FY 1983-84.

3.  No match is required by this grant.

4.  This grant will fund only the Senior Center Project.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

a.  The Mayor is hereby authorized to accept on behalf of the City of Portland, a grant from Multnomah County in the amount of $135,425.

b.  Any increase in grant funds for FY 2002-03 from Multnomah County to the City of Portland, Portland Parks and Recreation, for the purposes of the Senior Center Project, will be accepted by the City without further action by the Mayor or City Council.

c.  The FY 2002-03 budget is hereby amended as follows:

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists due to the desire of Multnomah County to begin monthly contract payments immediately; therefore, this Ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
