ORDINANCE No. 176799
*Authorize application to Oregon Department of Agriculture for a grant in the amount of $25,000 for the North Greeley Bluff Noxious Weed Abatement Project (Ordinance)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. The City of Portland, Bureau of Maintenance is establishing an Integrated Vegetation Management Program. This program addresses the concern of noxious weed species on city owned properties.
2. The Oregon Department of Agriculture provides grants to promote the control of noxious weeds and encourages restoration for wildlife habitat and watershed health.
3. Funding from the Oregon Department of Agriculture is available in the amount of $25,000 to assist in the implementation of noxious weed control and habitat restoration.
4. Local match in the amount of $25,000 will be provided in the form of salary, benefits and services in the budgets of the Bureau of Maintenance and Bureau of Environmental Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:
a. The Mayor is hereby authorized to make application to the Oregon Department of Agriculture for a grant in the amount of $25,000.
b. The Mayor is authorized to provide such information and assurances as are required for the grant period.
Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because the grant must be postmarked
no later that August 15, 2002; Therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Council.
