ORDINANCE No. 176341

 

 

* Contract with CorVel Corporation to perform medical bill auditing and other related services for the Risk Management Division of The Bureau of General Services. (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1. The Council finds:

 

1.  The Risk Management Division of the Bureau of General Services has a need to contract with a consultant to perform medical bill auditing and other related services as required by Oregon Workers’ Compensation Law, OAR 436.

 

2.  These services will be performed between April 15, 2002 and April 14, 2003, with an option of annual renewal at the sole discretion of the City for a period not to exceed 5 years.

 

3.  The firm, CorVel Corporation, was selected by a consultant selection committee in February, 2002.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

 

a.  The Mayor and Auditor are authorized to execute a contract with CorVel Corporation to perform medical bill auditing and other related services, attached as Exhibit A.

 

b.  The director of the Bureau of General Services is hereby authorized to renew this contract annually for period not to exceed 5 years.

 

c.  The Mayor and Auditor are authorized to draw and deliver checks payable to CorVel Corporation in an amount not to exceed $60,000 annually for up to a 5-year period.

 

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists in order to avoid undue delay in the processing of medical bills and to comply with Oregon State Law. Therefore, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
