ORDINANCE No. 176322

 

*Contract with Miller, Nash LLP for outside counsel requirements. (Ordinance)

 

The City of Portland ordains:

 

Section 1. The Council finds:

 

1.  The City requires the services of outside legal counsel to assist in trial of the case of City of Portland v. Boeing.

 

2.  The law firm of Miller, Nash, LLP, (Counsel) has agreed to provide these services.

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council directs:

 

a.  The City Attorney is authorized to enter into a Legal Service Agreement 98 to provide for trial preparation and trial presentation by outside counsel in the amount of $50,000.

 

b.  If applicable, the provisions of City Code Chapter 5.68 are waived.

 

c.  The Mayor and Auditor are authorized to draw and deliver warrants in payment of legal services provided under this Legal Services Agreement chargeable to Center Code 18089961/ Project #3457/Account No. 521000.

 

Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists in order to pay for legal services necessary in the matter of City of Portland vs. Boeing, therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by Council.
