ORDINANCE NO. 176286
* Extend contract with the Salvation Army to allow the Police Bureau Oregon Police Corps program to continue using Camp Kuratli as a training facility until May 10, 2002 to accommodate a second academy in fiscal year 2001/2002. (Ordinance; amend contract No. 33080)
The City of Portland ordains:
Section 1. The Council finds:
1. It has been determined that a second academy is necessary for the 2001/2002 fiscal year.
2. The Police Corps program requires a location that can provide classroom space, office space and room and board for the students involved in the program. Camp Kuratli has been providing the needed facilities and services for the first academy and is able to continue providing them through May 10, 2002 for the second academy.
3. There are federal grant funds available within the Police Bureau budget to cover the additional cost of $50,000 for a total compensation not to exceed $200,000.
NOW, therefore, the Council directs:
a. The Mayor, City Auditor and Police Chief are hereby authorized to extend contract 33080 by signing amendment #3 attached as Exhibit A.
Section 2. The Council declares that an emergency exists because delay in proceeding with this agreement will unnecessarily deprive the City of Portland Police Bureau Police Corps program and The Salvation Army of the mutual benefits of this agreement; therefore this ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage by the Council.
