Subject: Alamo Manhattan Project

Importance: Normal

As a resident of South Waterfront, I am very alarmed to learn of some of the plans the Alamo Manhattan developer has made in building their residential complex.

1. The plan for 1200 residences will increase, from what I’ve been told, almost 40% to the waterfront community. Those of us living here already are very concerned about having easy and efficient exits in the exiting the area should there be a disaster. Traffic jams!

2. I am upset to learn that the builder has found “legal loopholes“ which allows it to remove the requirement or standards for eco-roofs and bird resistant glass on the buildings. This is outrageous! In this day and age, we need to increase our green environment! Most of our buildings here in the area have rooftops allowing for the growth of green plants. This should be a requirement for Alamo Manhattan!

3. The existing condominiums on the waterfront have a developed a park, biking, walking areas for not only for those living in the Meriwether and the Atwater but for the general public. This apparently is not in the Alamo Manhattans’s plans and what little greenway design there is, it appears it’s designed for their residents and not the public. Yet another serious concern. We are a community! Many of us object to the tallest building being built adjacent to the river and not Bond Street...blocking views, etc.

I trust you will give consideration to these concerns along with other concerns being voiced by many in the South Waterfront community!
