I am a resident of unit 1708 at the Atwater building, facing the proposed project.
I opposed the design of the project . I do not understand why the taller buildings are adjacent to the River while the shorter ones are behind it. Not only will it ruin my view of the River, a smaller building next to the public greenway is more inviting for all the pedestrians exercising and walking their dogs, enjoying this beautiful area in Portland. We have long been looking forward to the connection of the walkway along our building with the walkway behind the Spaghetti Warehouse, across the area that is to be developed.
I hope that the City is also making adequate plans to plan for the egress from the Southwaterfront in case of an evacuation. As of now there is always a bottleneck during morning rush hour from Gaines Street to Macadam.
