Subject: Alamo Manhattan Project
Importance: Normal
To Whom it May Concern:
I am a resident in the South Waterfront and am concerned about a number of items regarding the Alamo Manhattan Project and I appeal to you to reverse the Design Commissions approval of the project as proposed.
1. The Greenway as proposed is not adequate for its use by the general public. This is supposed to be a continuation of our beloved greenway with space between the proposed buildings and the river. The buildings are too close to the River.
2. I thought that the guidelines of the South Waterfront included graduated building heights, from the western boundary to the waterfront. The proposal seems to be ignoring the standards previously set.
3. Guidelines used in the past called for designs which were more sculpted, not huge towers which appear bulky and not in keeping with the surrounding waterfront high-rises.
4. I live on the corner of S. Gaines St. and S. River Parkway and am again faced with the threat of massive traffic driving along River Parkway, turning left on S. Gaines, to get to Macadam.
The streets are not designed as main thoroughfares, and congestion already is massive…with garbage trucks coming and going for multiple bldgs on the same streets. Traffic patterns must be addressed to eliminate an increase of 40% occupancy in the South Waterfront without appropriate traffic attention.
Thank you for your attention…
