Subject: Alamo Manhattan project and South Waterfront

Importance: Normal

Hello city council members.

I am writing as a resident (owner in the Atwater) impacted directly by the Alamo Manhattan project. During design review meetings there were many discussions about the benefits to the greenway that would benefit all South Waterfront residents. These included improvements such as waterway access, connection of the bike path between the Osprey and the Spaghetti factory so that residents could access the fantastic bike path without having to first ride to Moody and pedal down a busy road.

We have two kids: 6 year old and a 1 year old. Getting them directly onto the bike path rather than dodging stop signs and bike lane on Moody would help reduce the fear we have whenever we try to go out for a bike ride with them. I would ask the city council to continue helping this neighborhood accessible and family friendly. We have many friends in the neighborhood whose only way to access slides, seesaw or playground is to make the 20 minute bike ride down to Williamette Park. Getting the greenway connected would help those of us parents have at least some way of accessing a playground even if it is 20 minute bike ride away.

Thank you,

Charles Stake
