Subject: Please reverse the Design Commissions approval for the Alamo Manhattan

Importance: Normal

Microsoft Exchange Server;converted from html;To the distinguished members of city council,

I’m writing to ask that City Council reverse the Design Commissions approval for the Alamo Manhattan project in South Waterfront. The existing buildings (including the Atwater where I reside) have public common areas that improve the community, and one can envision a future where trails lead from downtown all the way to the Sellwood bridge. The Greenway is one of the last publicly accessible portions to be developed, and should conform to the the community. The developer is rejecting funding and assistance from Prosper Portland and Portland Parks and Recreation, which seems to indicate they have little interest in the community. They seems to want to shove as many units into a plot of land and maximize profits. While I support the overall development of the neighborhood, there needs to be a balance with livability and community. Please don’t let them avoid the community. Like any community, planning takes effort, but that effort pays back over many lifetimes.

Thank you,

Charles Neerdaels
