Whereas, Voodoo Doughnuts, like the City of Portland, had a vision and opened its first shop in Old
Town on May 30, 2003; and
Whereas, Voodoo Doughnuts’ fifth anniversary was celebrated on May 30, 2008 with a grand parade
that consisted of more than one thousand participants and bikers from Old Town to open its second shop at 1501 NE Davis, Portland; and
Whereas, Voodoo Doughnuts is recognized as one of the top ten doughnut shops in America and
continues to earn the acclaim of local, national and international media for its creative, flavorful and unsurpassed quality doughnuts, hand made with lots love; and
Whereas, Voodoo Doughnuts created a raised doughnut filled with crème and covered in chocolate with
two eyes and christened it the Portland Cream, in honor of the City of Portland; and
Whereas, Portlanders are well aware that locally owned doughnut shops help form the foundation of our
economy and our patronage ensures the growth, longevity and provision of world class doughnuts and the employment of Portlanders; and
Now, therefore, I, Tom Potter, mayor of the City of Portland, Oregon, the “City of Roses,” do hereby declare Voodoo Doughnuts’ Portland Cream as the official
City of Portland Doughnut
and encourage all Portlanders to support and enjoy the succulent taste of Portland Cream, by seeking and purchasing it in appreciation of Voodoo Doughnuts’ contributions to our economy and bringing recognition and fame to our beloved City.
