Whereas, Mayor Potter’s alma mater Hosford Middle School is a

culturally diverse, Mandarin and Spanish language immersion middle school in Southeast Portland; and

Whereas, Hosford is a nationally recognized award recipient for Most Improved

Title One school, and has received a strong federal rating for several years and was named a Rising Star school by the Oregon Department of Education; and

Whereas, on June 9^th, 2008, Hosford’s eighth grade class of 169 students will be

promoted to high school.

Now, therefore, I, Tom Potter, Mayor of the City of Portland, Oregon do hereby

proclaim June 9^th, 2008 to be

Hosford Middle School Eighth Grade Promotion Day

in Portland and encourage all residents to observe this day.
