Whereas, the City of Portland was one of the pioneering states in the development and implementation of Equal Employment Opportunity, Minority and Women Business Enterprise, and Historically Underutilized Business programs; and

Whereas, the American Contract Compliance Association (ACCA) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring equity in employment and contracting practices in the public and private sectors; and

Whereas, the ACCA membership is comprised of public and private sector professionals throughout the United States and Canada involved in the areas of Contract Compliance, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Historically Underutilized Business programs; and

Whereas, the ACCA fosters uniform practices for monitoring and reporting employment and contracting activities and provides ongoing comprehensive professional training; and

Whereas, the 22^nd Annual ACCA Training Institute, which will provide extensive classroom instruction, will be held in Portland, Oregon, August 26-31, 2008.

Now, Therefore, I, Tom Potter, Mayor of the City of Portland, do hereby declare August 26-31, 2008
